“We’re especially proud of our pre-start engagement strategy, which keeps candidates excited, connected, and prepared before Day 1. Two standout touchpoints are our Winter Skills Workshop and our “Ready, Set, Intern” Prep Call. The workshop includes sessions on networking, Insurance 101, and thriving at Liberty Mutual, and earned a 4.7/5 average rating. Our prep call then brings incoming interns together to share onboarding details, answer questions, and build early community. Together, these experiences create momentum, confidence, and a strong launch into the internship experience.”

“We’re proud of our On-Campus Incoming Hire Connects, a community-building strategy that helps accepted students form relationships before Day 1. Partnering with career centers and leveraging our spring on-campus presence, we hosted nine events from February through April across universities and Liberty office locations in Massachusetts, Texas, Indiana, and New Hampshire. Through coffee chats and dinner connects, nearly 80 incoming hires connected with one another and current employees. These moments spark early belonging, deepen excitement, and help new hires start their Liberty journey with a strong sense of community already in place.”

This organization had one of the lowest renege rates among their peers who applied.
In their application, they cited regular communication with new hires between acceptance and start date, hosting pre-start programming or events, and leveraging a centralized, tech-enabled Keep-in-Touch approach as the top 3 reasons for their low rate.

“We’re proud of how intentional our mentorship/buddy program is, from matching participants based on feedback, skills, career path, and expectations to creating a supportive structure that drives real connection. We’re especially proud of the excitement among internal employees to volunteer as mentors and give back to early talent hires, including former interns who became full-time employees. The mentorship program enthusiasm reflects the value they experienced firsthand and helps strengthen a culture of professional development, belonging, and growth for the next generation of talent.”

This organization had one of the top internship to full-time conversion rates among their peers.
“We intentionally designed our annual three-day Intern Summit to inspire interns to return as full-time employees. Now in its 27th year, the summit has evolved alongside student expectations, with continuous innovation to keep the experience fresh, relevant, and high-impact. Hosted in our headquarters, it brings interns together from across the country for guest speakers, professional development, networking, and fun. Personalized breakout sessions, Boston experiences, and an exclusive “Ask Me Anything” with our CEO help interns feel celebrated, connected, and immersed in Liberty Mutual’s culture. The summit showcases what makes our organization special and builds excitement for a future career here.”
