Excellence in Keep-Warm Strategies

“Our keep-warm strategy is designed to keep interns connected and engaged from offer acceptance through their start date. Since many interns are hired in the fall and may not begin for several months, maintaining that connection is important. We use intentional touchpoints throughout the pre-boarding period, including welcome emails from recruiters, holiday check-ins, networking opportunities with fellow interns, brand education, and internship preparation communications. These touchpoints help build excitement, strengthen connection to Labcorp, and ensure interns feel informed, prepared, and ready to contribute on day one.”

Excellence in Community Building

“Once an intern accepts their role, we send a communication inviting them to participate in our “Connect with Fellow Interns” opportunity. If they choose to opt in, their contact information (such as name, location, school, and internship location) will be shared at a later date with other participating interns to help foster connections and potentially allow them to meet before their internship begins.”

Excellence in Preventing Reneges

This organization had one of the lowest renege rates among their peers who applied.

In their application, they cited regular communication with new hires between acceptance and start date, connecting new hires with peers before the start date, and getting them excited for all-expenses paid travel in the Week One Onsite Experience with fellow interns as the top 3 reasons for their low rate.

Excellence in Mentorship & Buddy Programs

“Last year, we launched our intern mentor program and found it to be a meaningful experience for both interns and mentors. It helped create strong connections, shared learning, and professional growth across the program. We especially enjoyed seeing former interns’ step into mentor roles for new interns. Because starting a new role can feel overwhelming, the program is designed to provide interns with a friendly point of contact for questions and support as they adjust. Watching past interns grow and then give back to support incoming interns has been a rewarding full-circle experience.”

Excellence in Internship to Full-Time Conversion

This organization had one of the top internship to full-time conversion rates among their peers.

“Interns gain hands-on experience by working on real client-facing projects while receiving structured feedback throughout the program, including at both midpoint and completion. This approach helps set clear expectations and gives them a realistic understanding of the role and potential full-time path. As a result, interns feel more prepared, confident, and excited about transitioning into future opportunities with Labcorp.”
