Excellence in Keep-Warm Strategies

“To help incoming interns feel prepared and confident ahead of their start date, we set up introductory calls prior to onboarding and shared a detailed onboarding document outlining what to expect during the program. These touchpoints provided clarity around timelines, expectations, and key program information, helping interns feel more informed and ready to begin their summer experience at The Garrett Companies!”

Excellence in Preventing Reneges

This organization had one of the lowest renege rates among their peers who applied.

In their application, they cited ensuring candidates clearly understand their compensation and benefits before accepting, helping candidates see long-term career growth during the interview process, and regular communication with new hires between acceptance and start date as the top 3 reasons for their low rate.

Excellence in Mentorship & Buddy Programs

“One aspect of our mentorship program we are especially proud of is the intentional connection between current interns and former Garrett interns who now serve as mentors. Each intern is paired one-on-one with a mentor who has firsthand experience in the program, providing relatable guidance and support throughout the summer. During onboarding, interns also participate in a Garrett Internship Program alumni panel, where they can hear directly from past interns about their experiences and biggest takeaways, and ask questions to help set the tone for the summer. In addition, weekly alumni-led Friday sessions reinforce learning through topics like the transition from school to full-time work, networking, work/life balance, and maximizing the internship experience.”
